If you were wondering which part of Uganda my name bearers come from, dont go far away. Above is the photo of my king reigning on his seat in Bunyoro Kingdom where we address him as Rukirabasaija[literary meaning greater than all men], Kabamba, Agutamba etc
There is one thing i find very interesting. On the 17th August 2009, The Daily Monitor run an article titled "Banyoro Say No to Immigrants". Now in our lay kind of talk, i would say my people rejected immigrants.
Now since oil was discovered, every one started identifying himself with it starting from radio presenters calling themselves " the only oil city presenter" drunkards calling themselves "mayor of the oil city" to mention but a few.
The biggest problem with my people is land. If you passed through villages in my land, you would definitely attribute the rains and good climate to this area because forests are really reserved. But how about bushes that have nothing to do with formation of rain apart from harbouring snakes and other creatures that harm my people? The mistake my people are making is to think that whoever owns land in Bunyoro owns oil. For heavens sake this is a natural resource that belongs to no individual but to the state. The other day we were discussing who the state is.
Beleive you me, it is nothing but oil that my people are relying on to make such claims. Now i want to ask my people. You have miles of bushes around your house and you do not even have a garden of beans, yet sometimes you find difficulty to buy a cup of beans for yourself and the food you eat is planted by immigrants who plant it on your land and later sell it to you. What will happen if they stop? Have the leaders of my people looked into this. Okay! Refuse immigrants and learn how to plan for your own future by making proper use of that land you are fighting for. Plant some food for your family and for others if you insist that those who utilise land be kept away. No emotions here. It is my persoanl opinion. Dont you also have yours?
